Visceral Swarm
Photographs are memories, a register of what we are in a specific point in time. In this work, the body parts from the artist (scabs from wounds and wisdom teeth) represent a biographic all. Its reconstruction is placed turning to the being, the nucleus, the wound, in a literal interior, soft and grotesque, giving solace and pain.
In times of literality, image manipulation softwares and tricks in favor of beauty, of the non-natural beauty, of uniformity, the intention of Daniel Gafanhoto is to show the real side of the grotesque, being it really beautiful, alive, carnal, abstract, tactile. A series of images based on errors, defects, wounds and pains, that when turning back to the origin of the being, cell, tissue, shows all of its veracity and also beauty.
